Ramon Gustavo Castillo Gaete, que está foragido desde fevereiro, teria sido visto pela última vez e fevereiro, antes de viajar para o Peru para comprar plantas usadas para fazer ayahuasca, um chá alucinógeno - o mesmo conhecido no Brasil como chá do Daime.
O pedido para a busca internacional foi feito pouco depois do anúncio de que quatro integrantes da seita - entre eles, a mãe da criança, Natalia Guerra - foram presos no Chile.
Em um caso que chocou o Chile, o bebê de apenas três dias foi jogado em uma fogueira em novembro, na localidade de Colligua, supostamente porque os membros da seita acreditavam que ele seria o "anticristo".
Acredita-se que Gaete se apresentava como uma "divindade" para os outros membros do grupo e pregava que o mundo acabaria em 21 de dezembro de 2012 - data que marca o fim do calendário maia.
Segundo investigadores chilenos, ele teria mantido relações sexuais com todas as mulheres da seita e pode ser o pai do bebê assassinado.
Também teria sido Gaete quem convenceu Guerra a concordar com o "sacrifício" na versão de autoridades chilenas.
De acordo com Miguel Ampuero, vice-chefe da Polícia Investigativa Chilena, o bebê nasceu em uma clínica de Viña del Mar, mas nunca foi registrado oficialmente.
Autoridades começaram a procurar a criança e descobriram seu corpo carbonizado em uma casa usada pela seita em seus rituais.
Durante a cerimônia de sacrifício, os membros da seita teriam consumido ayahuasca, usado há séculos pelos povos indígenas da América do Sul.
