Nossa Senhora Aparecida
— O Senhor esteja convosco.
— Ele está no meio de nós.
— PROCLAMAÇÃO do Evangelho de Jesus Cristo, + segundo João.
— Glória a vós, Senhor!
Naquele tempo, 1houve um casamento em Caná da Galileia. A mãe de Jesus estava presente. 2Também Jesus e seus discípulos tinham sido convidados para o casamento.3Como o vinho veio a faltar, a mãe de Jesus lhe disse: “Eles não têm mais vinho”.
4Jesus respondeu-lhe: “Mulher, por que dizes isto a mim? Minha hora ainda não chegou”.
5Sua mãe disse aos que estavam servindo: “Fazei o que ele vos disser”.
6Estavam seis talhas de pedra colocadas aí para a purificação que os judeus costumam fazer. Em cada uma delas cabiam mais ou menos cem litros.
7Jesus disse aos que estavam servindo: “Enchei as talhas de água”. Encheram-nas até a boca. 8Jesus disse: “Agora tirai e levai ao mestre-sala”. E eles levaram. 9O mestre-sala experimentou a água que se tinha transformado em vinho. Ele não sabia de onde vinha, mas os que estavam servindo sabiam, pois eram eles que tinham tirado a água.
10O mestre-sala chamou então o noivo e lhe disse: “Todo mundo serve primeiro o vinho melhor e, quando os convidados já estão embriagados, serve o vinho menos bom. Mas tu guardaste o vinho bom até agora!”
11Este foi o início dos sinais de Jesus. Ele o realizou em Caná da Galileia e manifestou a sua glória, e seus discípulos creram nele.

Com muita alegria nós, brasileiros, lembramos e celebramos solenemente o dia da Protetora da Igreja e das famílias brasileiras: Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida.
A história de Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida tem seu início pelos meados de 1717, quando chegou a notícia de que o Conde de Assumar, D. Pedro de Almeida e Portugal, Governador da Província de São Paulo e Minas Gerais, iria passar pela Vila de Guaratinguetá, a caminho de Vila Rica, hoje cidade de Ouro Preto (MG).
Convocados pela Câmara de Guaratinguetá, os pescadores Domingos Garcia, Filipe Pedroso e João Alves saíram à procura de peixes no Rio Paraíba. Desceram o rio e nada conseguiram.
Depois de muitas tentativas sem sucesso, chegaram ao Porto Itaguaçu, onde lançaram as redes e apanharam uma imagem sem a cabeça, logo após, lançaram as redes outra vez e apanharam a cabeça, em seguida lançaram novamente as redes e desta vez abundantes peixes encheram a rede.
A imagem ficou com Filipe, durante anos, até que presenteou seu filho, o qual usando de amor à Virgem fez um oratório simples, onde passou a se reunir com os familiares e vizinhos, para receber todos os sábados as graças do Senhor por Maria. A fama dos poderes extraordinários de Nossa Senhora foi se espalhando pelas regiões do Brasil.
Por volta de 1734, o Vigário de Guaratinguetá construiu uma Capela no alto do Morro dos Coqueiros, aberta à visitação pública em 26 de julho de 1745. Mas o número de fiéis aumentava e, em 1834, foi iniciada a construção de uma igreja maior (atual Basílica Velha).
No ano de 1894, chegou a Aparecida um grupo de padres e irmãos da Congregação dos Missionários Redentoristas, para trabalhar no atendimento aos romeiros que acorriam aos pés da Virgem Maria para rezar com a Senhora "Aparecida" das águas.
O Papa Pio X em 1904 deu ordem para coroar a imagem de modo solene. No dia 29 de abril de 1908, a igreja recebeu o título de Basílica Menor. Grande acontecimento, e até central para a nossa devoção à Virgem, foi quando em 1929 o Papa Pio XI declarou Nossa Senhora Aparecida Padroeira do Brasil, com estes objetivos: o bem espiritual do povo e o aumento cada vez maior de devotos à Imaculada Mãe de Deus.
Em 1967, completando-se 250 anos da devoção, o Papa Paulo VI ofereceu ao Santuário de Aparecida a Rosa de Ouro, reconhecendo a importância do Santuário e estimulando o culto à Mãe de Deus.
Com o passar do tempo, a devoção a Nossa Senhora da Conceição Aparecida foi crescendo e o número de romeiros foi aumentando cada vez mais. A primeira Basílica tornou-se pequena. Era necessária a construção de outro templo, bem maior, que pudesse acomodar tantos romeiros. Por iniciativa dos missionários Redentoristas e dos Senhores Bispos, teve início, em 11 de novembro de 1955, a construção de uma outra igreja, a atual Basílica Nova. Em 1980, ainda em construção, foi consagrada pelo Papa João Paulo ll e recebeu o título de Basílica Menor. Em 1984, a Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB) declarou oficialmente a Basílica de Aparecida Santuário Nacional, sendo o "maior Santuário Mariano do mundo".

With great joy we Brazilians solemnly remember and celebrate the day of the Protector of the Church and of Brazilian families: Our Lady of Aparecida.
The story of Our Lady of Aparecida got their start by mid-1717, when the news came that the Earl of Assumar, D. Pedro de Almeida, Portugal, Governor of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, would pass through the village of Guaratingueta, the path of Villa Rica, today the city of Ouro Preto (MG).
Convened by the Board of Guaratinguetá, fishermen Domingos Garcia, João Alves and Filipe Pedroso went looking for fish in the River Paraiba. They went down the river and got nothing.
After many unsuccessful attempts, arrived in Port Itaguaçu where cast nets and caught a picture without a head, soon after, launched the nets again and grabbed his head, then threw the nets again and this time filled the abundant fish network.
The image stayed with Philip for years, until his gifted son, who love using the Virgin made a simple oratory, where he was reunited with family members and neighbors, every Saturday to receive the graces of the Lord through Mary. The fame of the extraordinary powers of Our Lady was spreading throughout the regions of Brazil.
Around 1734, the Vicar of Guaratinguetá built a chapel on the hill Coqueiros, opened to the public on July 26, 1745. But the number of believers grew and, in 1834, started the construction of a larger church (now Old Basilica).
In the year 1894, arrived in Aparecida a group of priests and brothers of the Congregation of the Redemptorists, to work in serving pilgrims who flocked to the feet of the Virgin Mary to pray with Lady "Aparecida" waters.
Pope Pius X in 1904 gave the order to crown the image so solemn. On April 29, 1908, the church received the title of Minor Basilica. Great event, and even central to our devotion to the Virgin, was in 1929 when Pope Pius XI declared Patroness Our Lady of Aparecida in Brazil, with these goals: the spiritual good of the people and increasing more and more devotees to the Immaculate Mother of God .

On the initiative of the Redemptorist missionaries and the Lords Bishops, began on 11 November 1955, the construction of another church, the present Basilica Nova. In 1980, still under construction, was consecrated by Pope John Paul II and given the title of Minor Basilica. In 1984, the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) officially declared the Basilica of the National Shrine of Aparecida, being the "biggest Marian shrine in the world."
