O grupo armado Taleban ameaçou nesta segunda-feira matar o príncipe Harry, neto da rainha Elizabeth 2ª, da Inglaterra. Ele chegou na semana passada para um treinamento militar com forças da Otan no Afeganistão.

Em comunicado às agências de notícias, os talebans afirmam que usarão "tudo o que tiver a seu alcance" para sequestrar e matar o membro da família real, que ficará quatro meses na base de Camp Bastion, na Província de Helmand.

"Estamos usando toda nossa força para nos livrarmos dele, seja sequestrando ou matando. Informamos nossos comandos em Helmand para fazer qualquer coisa para eliminá-lo", afirmou o porta-voz Zabihullah Mujahid.

Terceiro na linha de sucessão real, Harry iniciou na semana passada sua segunda missão em território afegão, onde forças britânicas fazem parte da coalizão da Otan na guerra contra o terrorismo e o Taleban, iniciada em 2001.

Piloto do helicóptero de combate Apache, o príncipe participou de uma missão no país asiático em dezembro de 2007, mas que foi encerrada após a imprensa internacional ter revelado a operação.

Por motivos de segurança, ele voltou ao Reino Unido em março de 2008, dez semanas após o início dos exercícios.

The Taliban armed group on Monday threatened to kill Prince Harry, grandson of Queen Elizabeth 2nd of England. He arrived last week for a military training with NATO forces in Afghanistan.

In a statement to news agencies, the Taliban say they will use "everything they have in their power" to kidnap and kill a member of the royal family, who will be four months on the basis of Camp Bastion in Helmand province.

"We are using all our might to get rid of it, either kidnapping or killing. Inform our command in Helmand to do anything to eliminate it," said spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid.

Third in the line of royal succession, Harry began last week its second mission in Afghanistan, where British forces are part of the NATO coalition in the war against terrorism and the Taliban, which began in 2001.

Pilot Apache combat helicopter, the Prince took part in a mission in the Asian country in December 2007, but was closed after the international press have revealed the operation.

For security reasons, he returned to the UK in March 2008, ten weeks after the beginning of the exercises.
