O Vaticano informou neste sábado (9) que os fiéis e a imprensa devem prestar atenção à chaminé da Capela Sistina em busca da fumaça que indicará o resultado das votações para a escolha do sucessor de Bento 16 por volta das 19h no horário local (15h em Brasília) de terça-feira (12), dia em que começa o conclave. A fumaça preta indicará que ainda não há consenso entre os cardeais eleitores. A fumaça branca, por sua vez, confirmará que há um vencedor na eleição. Será feita apenas uma votação na terça-feira.
A partir do segundo dia de votação, serão dois escrutínios pela manhã e dois à tarde. Segundo o Vaticano, o esquema é o mesmo: pode-se esperar fumaça por volta das 12h e depois, às 19h no horário local. Mas, se houver definição no primeiro escrutínio da manhã, a fumaça branca poderá ser vista entre as 10h30 e as 11h no horário local. Caso a escolha seja após o primeiro escrutínio da tarde, a fumaça branca poderá ser vista entre as 17h30 e as 18h. No entanto, mantido o impasse, só haverá fumaça depois dos dois escrutínios.
A partir das 7h da manhã de terça, os cardeais que participarão da eleição poderão ocupar os seus respectivos quartos na Casa Santa Marta, onde ficarão instalados durante o conclave. Para preservar o sigilo do processo, os cardeais não terão contato com ninguém de fora nem acesso aos meios de comunicação.
Antes de se confinarem na Capela Sistina, onde acontecem as votações, será celebrada às 10h da manhã uma missa ("Pro eligendo Romano Pontifice") na Basílica de São Pedro. O evento, aberto ao público, marca o início do processo.
O porta-voz da Igreja, padre Federico Lombardi, afirmou que a data divulgada foi a primeira proposta considerando o tempo necessário para terminar a preparação da Capela Sistina e da Casa Santa Marta. Na manhã deste sábado, foi instalada no telhado da Capela Sistina a chaminé por onde sairá a fumaça que indicará se o papa tiver sido eleito.
Como é a votação
Não há uma previsão de quanto tempo o conclave poderá durar até sair o novo nome que liderará a Igreja Católica. Em 2005, o conclave que escolheu Bento 16 foi bastante rápido: em apenas dois dias, chegou-se a um consenso sobre o novo pontífice.
O Colégio de Cardeais, composto por aqueles com menos de 80 anos, tem 115 integrantes. Para ser eleito, é necessário receber dois terços mais um dos votos, equivalente, neste caso, a 77 votos favoráveis.
Entre os eleitores estão cinco brasileiros: dom Odilo Scherer, dom Raymundo Damasceno, dom Cláudio Hummes, dom João Braz Aviz e dom Geraldo Majella.
Se nenhum cardeal receber os dois terços dos votos, as cédulas são queimadas, uma fumaça preta sai da chaminé da basílica e a votação é retomada.Pedimos ao Beáto João Paulo II que rogue ao Senhor pelo conclave!
