O Ano Litúrgico começa com o Tempo do Advento; um tempo de preparação para a Festa do Natal de Jesus. Este foi o maior acontecimento da História: o Verbo se fez carne e habitou entre nós. Dignou-se a assumir a nossa humanidade, sem deixar de ser Deus. Esse acontecimento precisa ser preparado e celebrado a cada ano. Nessas quatro semanas de preparação, somos convidados a esperar Jesus que vem no Natal e que vem no final dos tempos.
Nas duas primeiras semanas do Advento, a liturgia nos convida a vigiar e esperar a vinda gloriosa do Salvador. Um dia, o Senhor voltará para colocar um fim na História humana, mas o nosso encontro com Ele também está marcado para logo após a morte.
Nas duas últimas semanas, lembrando a espera dos profetas e de Maria, nós nos preparamos mais especialmente para celebrar o nascimento de Jesus em Belém. Os Profetas anunciaram esse acontecimento com riqueza de detalhes: nascerá da tribo de Judá, em Belém, a cidade de Davi; seu Reino não terá fim... Maria O esperou com zelo materno e O preparou para a missão terrena.
Para nos ajudar nesta preparação usa-se a Coroa do Advento, composta por 4 velas nos seus cantos – presas aos ramos formando um círculo. A cada domingo acende-se uma delas. As velas representam as várias etapas da salvação. Começa-se no 1º Domingo, acendendo apenas uma vela e à medida que vão passando os domingos, vamos acendendo as outras velas, até chegar o 4º Domingo, quando todas devem estar acesas. As velas acesas simbolizam nossa fé, nossa alegria. Elas são acesas em honra do Deus que vem a nós. Deus, a grande Luz, "a Luz que ilumina todo homem que vem a este mundo", está para chegar, então, nós O esperamos com luzes, porque O amamos e também queremos ser, como Ele, Luz.
No lº Domingo, há o perdão oferecido a Adão e Eva. Eles morreram na terra, mas viverão em Deus por Jesus Cristo. Sendo Deus, Jesus fez-se filho de Adão para salvar o seu pai terreno. Meditando a chegada de Cristo, que veio no Natal e que vai voltar no final da História, devemos buscar o arrependimento dos nossos pecados e preparar o nosso coração para o encontro com o Senhor. Para isso, nada melhor que uma boa Confissão, bem feita.
Até quando adiaremos a nossa profunda e sincera conversão para Deus?
No 2º Domingo, meditamos a fé dos Patriarcas. Eles acreditaram no dom da terra prometida. Pela fé, superaram todos os obstáculos e tomaram posse das Promessas de Deus. É uma oportunidade de meditarmos em nossa fé; nossa opção religiosa por Jesus Cristo; nosso amor e compromisso com a Santa Igreja Católica – instituída por Ele para levar a salvação a todos os homens de todos os tempos. Qual tem sido o meu papel e o meu lugar na Igreja? Tenho sido o missionário que Jesus espera de todo batizado para salvar o mundo?
No 3º Domingo, meditamos a alegria do rei Davi. Ele celebrou a aliança e sua perpetuidade. Davi é o rei imagem de Jesus, unificou o povo judeu sob seu reinado, como Cristo unificará o mundo todo sob seu comando. Cristo é Rei e veio para reinar; mas o seu Reino não é deste mundo; não se confunde com o “Reino do homem”; seu Reino começa neste mundo, mas se perpetua na eternidade, para onde devemos ter os olhos fixos, sem tirar os pés da terra.
No 4º Domingo, contemplamos o ensinamento dos Profetas: Eles anunciaram um Reino de paz e de justiça com a vinda do Messias. O Profeta Isaías apresenta o Senhor como o Deus Forte, o Conselheiro Admirável, o Príncipe da Paz. No seu Reino acabarão a guerra e o sofrimento; o boi comerá palha ao lado do leão; a criança de peito poderá colocar a mão na toca da serpente sem mal algum. É o Reino de Deus que o Menino nascido em Belém vem trazer: Reino de Paz, Verdade, Justiça, Liberdade, Amor e Santidade.
A Coroa do Advento é o primeiro anúncio do Natal. Ela é da cor verde, que simboliza a esperança e a vida, enfeitada com uma fita vermelha, simbolizando o amor de Deus que nos envolve e também a manifestação do nosso amor, que espera ansioso o nascimento do Filho de Deus.
O Tempo do Advento deve ser uma boa preparação para o Natal, deve ser marcado pela conversão de vida – algo fundamental para todo cristão. É um processo de vital importância no relacionamento do homem com Deus. O grande inimigo é a soberba, pois quem se julga justo e mais sábio do que Deus nunca se converterá. Quem se acha sem pecado, não é capaz de perdoar ao próximo, nem pede perdão a Deus.
Deus – ensinam os Profetas – não quer a morte do pecador, mas que este se converta e viva. Jesus quer o mesmo: “Eu vim para que todos tenham a vida e a tenham em abundância” (Jo 10,10). Por isso Ele chamou os pecadores à conversão: “Convertei-vos, porque está próximo o Reino dos Céus” (Mt 4,17); “convertei-vos e crede no Evangelho” ( Mc 1,15).
Natal do Senhor, este é o tempo favorável; este é o dia da salvação!

The liturgical year begins with the season of Advent, a time of preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of Jesus. This was the greatest event in history: the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. In those four weeks of preparation, we are asked to wait for Jesus coming at Christmas and that comes at the end of time.
In the first two weeks of Advent, the liturgy invites us to watch and wait for the glorious coming of the Savior. One day the Lord will return to put an end to human history, but our encounter with him is also scheduled for shortly after death.

God, the great Light, "the Light that enlightens every man coming into this world," is coming, so we expect the lights, because we love him and we also want to be like him, the Light
The l First Sunday, there is the forgiveness offered to Adam and Eve, they died on earth, but live in God through Jesus Christ. As God, Jesus became the son of Adam to save his earthly father. Meditating the arrival of Christ, who came at Christmas and will return at the end of history, we should seek repentance for our sins and prepare our hearts to meet the Lord. There is nothing better than a good confession, well done.
How long will postpone our deep and sincere conversion to God?
In the 2nd Sunday, pondered the faith of the Patriarchs. They believed in the gift of the promised land. By faith, overcame all obstacles and took possession of the Promises of God. It is an opportunity to meditate on our faith, our religious choice by Jesus Christ, our love and commitment to the Holy Catholic Church - instituted by God to bring salvation to all men of all time. What has been my role and my place in the Church? I have been the mission that Jesus expected of all baptized to save the world?
In the 3rd Sunday, pondered the joy of King David. He celebrated the alliance and its perpetuity. David King is the image of Jesus, unified the Jewish people under his reign, as Christ will unify the world under his command. Christ is King and he came to reign, but his kingdom is not of this world, not to be confused with the "kingdom of man," begins his kingdom in this world, but is perpetuated in eternity, where we keep our eyes fixed without taking feet of land.
In the 4 th Sunday, we contemplate the teaching of the Prophets: They announced a kingdom of peace and justice with the coming of the Messiah. The Prophet Isaiah presents the Lord as the Mighty God, the Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace In his kingdom will end war and suffering, the ox shall eat straw beside the lion, the little child can put his hand on the hole of the snake without harm. It is the Kingdom of God that the Child born in Bethlehem brings: United for Peace, Truth, Justice, Freedom, Love and Holiness.
The Crown of Advent is the first announcement of Christmas. It is the color green, symbolizing hope and life, decorated with a red ribbon, symbolizing the love of God that surrounds us and also a manifestation of our love, anxious waiting the birth of the Son of God.
The season of Advent should be a good preparation for Christmas, should be marked by the conversion of life - something essential for every Christian. It is a process of vital importance in man's relationship with God. The great enemy is superb, who thinks just and wiser than God never convert. Those who are without sin, can not forgive his neighbor, nor asks God for forgiveness.
God - the prophets teach - not to the death of the sinner, but that this be converted and live. Jesus wants the same: "I came that you may have life and have it abundantly" (Jn 10:10). So he called sinners to conversion: "Repent, because it is near the kingdom of heaven" (Mt 4:17); "repent and believe the Gospel" (Mk 1:15).
Nativity of the Lord, this is the favorable time, this is the day of salvation!
