A gravidade do aborto

A+A-

The seriousness of abortion
Human life must be respected and protected absolutely
A + A -

The newspaper "Folha de S. Paulo" (Rio de Janeiro, 20ago06) reported that a survey of around 5 thousand people in three cities of Brazil (Rio, Salvador and Porto Alegre) indicates that 16.7% of the teenage abortion first child, and 45.9% of boys had girlfriends who stopped first pregnancy.

The research also showed that 15.5% of girls wished to cause abortion when she got pregnant with her first child, and 11.12% have tried to do it without success. Among boys, 20% reported that their partners wanted to interrupt the pregnancy. The survey was conducted by the researcher Greice Menezes. According to the researcher, who else does abortions are young women with higher income and education. The poll found that women who had completed elementary or middle school graduates, reported three times the outcome of abortion in the first pregnancy than young women with low education.

Regarding income, the girls came from families whose per capita income was above the minimum wage reported having resorted to abortion four times more than the people who came from families with incomes below this minimum wage.

This figure breaks the argument that abortion is a "social solution." Girls with higher income can undergo the procedure in private clinics and take care. Already the poorest, according to the researcher, make use of abortifacient drugs and teas.

The Church condemns radical abortion in all cases! It is not permissible to kill the child in the womb, nor the animals do it, instead, defend their young with courage. Even in cases of rape can justify abortion, because the punishment for crime should be the rapist and not the innocent child!

The Church teaches in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) that:

"Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of its existence, the human being should see recognition of their rights of person, including the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

Even before you in the womb I knew you, before you were the breast, I consecrated you (Jer 1:5).

My bones were not hidden when I was done in secret, tissue deeper in the earth (Psalm 139.15). "(§ 2270)

Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. I already told (Didache 2.2) in the first century: "Do not kill the embryo by abortion and you shall not destroy the newborn." (Didache 2.2)

The Second Vatican Council said: "Abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes" (GS 51.3)

Also who cooperates in an abortion is just as guilty. Both the person who commit the crime and how to help those who are excommunicated by the Church.

"Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church sanctions with a canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "Whoever causes abortion, followed by effect, incurs excommunication latae sententiae" (CIC, can. 1398) "by the very fact of committing the offense" (CIC, can. 1314) and as provided by law (CIC, can 1323-1324). Thus the Church does not restrict the scope of mercy. Is yes, the severity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm caused to the innocent dead, their parents and the whole society. "(CCC § 2272)

(The Latin phrase latae sententiae means "sentence already enacted" and indicates that the offender incurs an excommunication without the authority needs to decide.)

Igreja no Brasil celebra o dia do Nascituro.

A Igreja no Brasil celebra nesta quinta-feira, 8, o Dia do Nascituro.

The Church in Brazil celebrates on Thursday, 8, the Day of the Unborn. After a National Week of Life, from 1 to 7 October, the Church seeks to highlight the importance of the unborn as a human being ever conceived.

"Unborn child is a child in the womb from fertilization to birth. Therefore, one who has the right to be born," said the president of the Episcopal Commission for Family Life and the CNBB, Bishop Orlando Brandes.

He said that life is very threatened around the world. "It is threatened by abortion, by the manipulation of stem cells, euthanasia, famine, violence ... We need to cry for human life." For this reason the CNBB established on October 8 as the Day of the Unborn, and the date is celebrated since 2005.

The Church has always argued against abortion, Bishop Orlando emphasizes, and explains that in addition to disregarding the basic principle of life, this act harms the mother. "First of all, we need to be the defenders of life, obedience and respect for the Creator. Life is a primitive, fundamental and basic. And abortion is the taking of human life, someone who has the right to exist. In also seriously damages the very pregnant. Abortion harms two lives, the life of the child who is eliminated and the life of the mother who suffers.

For the coordinator of the Pastoral Care of the Archdiocese of Sao Paulo, Ana Maria Carvalho, seems contradictory to speak in defense of life at a time when life seems disposable. But when it comes to upholding the highest law of all, the right to life, the coordinator is categorical. "We defenders of life, we are fighting against the tide, with the grace of God we have been able to celebrate life and defend it through celebrations, lectures, parish activities, to raise awareness," he says.

Throughout Brazil, last week for life and especially on the unborn, the Pastoral Family steps up activities in order to always seek a debate on various attacks on life. "Especially the issue of abortion, a method that violates the rights of those still unborn, and that from the earliest days of pregnancy the fetus has rights, the dignity and integrity as a person," the coordinator explains.

Ana Maria also noted that another attack life is in vitro fertilization method, which she said, produces thousands of embryos and takes just as if life is disposable.

The Coordinator of Pastoral Care points out that in Brazil thousands of people come together on the struggle for life. "May God protect us and give us strength and courage to continue fighting for life in all its forms," he concludes.
